HDBaseT™ 3.0 Extender 4K60 HDMI + USB
NX3-222
The NX3-222 is an 18 Gbps HDBaseT 3.0 extender carrying 4K@60Hz (4:4:4) video, USB 2.0, bi-directional IR, and RS-232 over a single CAT6/6A cable — up to 70 m at 4K30/1080p and 40 m at 4K60. Both transmitter and receiver provide analog audio de-embedding, USB ports and EDID management on the transmitter. Designed for interactive meeting rooms, classrooms and AV installations requiring video and USB peripheral extension in a single cable run.

Description
The NX3-222 is built on HDBaseT 3.0, carrying the full 18 Gbps HDMI 2.0b video path alongside USB 2.0 pass-through over a single CAT6/6A cable. It supports 4K@60Hz (4:4:4) up to 40 m and 4K30/1080p up to 70 m, with HDCP 2.2, HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision LLM, and HLG pass-through. Colour depth support spans 8/10/12-bit across RGB, YCbCr 4:4:4, 4:2:2, and 4:2:0 colour spaces.
The USB 2.0 implementation means a single CAT cable between transmitter and receiver carries video, audio, USB, IR, and RS-232 simultaneously — replacing what would otherwise require three or four separate cable runs. The transmitter provides a USB-B host port connecting to the source PC plus two USB-A device ports for local peripherals. The receiver provides two USB-A device ports for remote peripherals — keyboards, mice, touch screens, webcams, or USB storage.
Audio de-embedding is available at both the transmitter and receiver via 3.5 mm stereo outputs. This dual-extraction approach allows speakers to be driven locally at the source rack and independently at the display end without an external audio splitter. The full HDMI audio format range is passed through, including LPCM, Dolby Digital/Plus/EX, Dolby TrueHD, DTS, DTS-HD Master Audio, and DSD.
The transmitter includes a two-position EDID DIP switch offering four modes: copy the connected display's native EDID (factory default), force 4K30 4:4:4, force 1080p60 4:4:4, or force 1200p60 4:4:4. Forced EDID modes are particularly useful in installations where the display is powered off at times or where the source device needs a stable EDID presented regardless of what is happening downstream — a common requirement with media players, signage controllers, and matrix switches.
Bi-directional IR pass-through allows source control from the display end and display control from the source end using the included IR receiver and blaster cables (1.5 m). RS-232 pass-through on Phoenix connectors provides a serial control path in both directions for integration with control systems or RS-232 equipped displays and matrices.
Bi-directional Power over Cable is supported with a physical on/off switch on both units. When enabled, a single 24 V/1 A power supply connected to either the transmitter or receiver powers both units through the CAT cable. The POC switch gives the installer explicit control — useful in situations where POC must be disabled due to infrastructure constraints or when the CAT cable also carries PoE from a network switch that could conflict.
Both units are housed in compact metal enclosures (144 × 78 × 23 mm) with included mounting ears. Connection and data signal LEDs on each unit provide at-a-glance status — green for link quality, yellow for HDCP/signal presence. A micro-USB service port on each unit enables firmware updates. Total system power consumption is 14.28 W under POC.
The NX3-222 is suited for interactive classrooms with touch displays and USB cameras, conference rooms where a rack-mounted PC needs to reach a remote keyboard/mouse and display, digital signage with USB content updates, and any installation where minimising cable count between source and display locations is a priority.
